“I have seen how traditional grantmaking models often reinforce a power imbalance between funders and communities. Scattergood takes a thoughtful and innovative approach to avoid this dynamic; I’m particularly excited about the foundation’s participatory grantmaking work, which respects lived experiences as a meaningful source of expertise.”
