The Organizing Center | Resilient Futures

The Organizing Center launched the healing justice cohort for black and brown organizers in Philadelphia. The Organizing Center created programming designed to bring healing justice to the movement organizers themselves. The program worked to support organizers to develop resiliency practices and build relationships that can sustain them in social change work. 

Specifically this program:

• • Established a cohort of 6 BIPOC serving at the Director level of organizations doing community organizing work for 4 trainings on how to build in healing justice and sustainability practices into their organization
  • Brought together 12 BIPOC organizers, from the organizations headed by the Directors in the first cohort, for a 6-month cohort of healing justice programs tailored to the needs of the cohort. Topics could include somatic grounding, holistic wellness, guided meditation, strategies for managing stress & anxiety, dealing with historic trauma 
  • Offered 3 public workshops, free of cost, to organizers of color to support their development of resilience and healing practices
  • Documented and shared out the learnings of this healing justice program
