Community Health Capacity Initiative
The Community Health Capacity Initiative (CHCI) strengthens the health, sustainability, and resilience of grassroots harm reduction organizations across Pennsylvania.
Launched in partnership with Vital Strategies and the Patricia Kind Family Foundation, CHCI recognizes that organizations doing some of the most important work to prevent overdose and support people who use drugs often operate with limited resources while navigating increasing demand and complex challenges. Rather than focusing solely on program funding, the initiative invests in the organizational capacity needed for these organizations to thrive over the long term.
Participating organizations receive:
- Flexible grant funding
- An organizational capacity assessment
- Tailored technical assistance and coaching coordinated by the Public Health Impact Hub at the University of Pennsylvania
- Peer learning and collaboration opportunities
- Support to strengthen leadership, operations, and long-term sustainability
By bringing together grassroots organizations, technical assistance providers, and funders, CHCI seeks to strengthen both individual organizations and Pennsylvania’s broader harm reduction ecosystem.
