Project HEAL breaks down systemic, healthcare, and financial barriers to eating disorder treatment, with the vision that everyone with an eating disorder has the opportunities and resources they need to recover.
Project HEAL was funded to launch a clinical training program for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ mental health clinicians, increasing provider diversity and expanding access to culturally responsive eating disorder care for marginalized communities.
Project HEAL was funded to provide free, 90-minute clinical assessments with licensed eating disorder specialists for individuals facing barriers to diagnosis and care. Participants received comprehensive reports to better understand their symptoms, identify appropriate treatment options, and navigate insurance and provider requirements. Those needing further assistance were connected to additional Project HEAL services, reducing delays and helping them access support earlier in their recovery.
Project HEAL won the 2018 Scattergood Innovation Award for Communities of HEALing, a peer mentorship program that connects people with eating disorders to recovered mentors who offer ongoing support, accountability, and encouragement throughout recovery.
