The mission of Los Bomberos De La Calle is to preserve, educate, and serve the community by sharing the vibrant, soulful Afro-Puerto Rican traditions of Bomba and Plena music and dance, while bringing people of all ages together to experience Puerto Rican culture.
Philly Bomba Plena received funding to provide general operating support and help sustain the organization’s programs and activities throughout the year.
Los Bomberos De La Calle was funded to present a tenth-anniversary Bomba and Plena community celebration, expanding exposure to Puerto Rican arts and creating an intergenerational opportunity for cultural education, exchange, and connection.
