The mission of Kensington Voice is to provide a platform for residents to share their perspectives and reclaim the narrative of their neighborhood through authentic, grassroots, and bilingual (English and Spanish) storytelling.
Kensington Voice was funded to revitalize its resident advisory board, ensuring community members guide its journalism and services, and to cover rent so its newsroom can remain open and accessible to the public.
Kensington Voice’was funded to cover rent and utilities for their studio, sustaining their newsroom, Media Learning Lab, and youth after-school and summer programs while distributing bilingual news and resource information throughout Kensington.
Kensington Voice was funded to employ a community behavioral health journalist, publish 18 bilingual articles and personal essays, and host six storytelling events to increase awareness of mental health resources and reduce stigma in Kensington-area communities.
