The Karen Community Association of Philadelphia (KCAP)’s mission is to empower and uplift Karen refugees in Philadelphia by preserving Karen culture and language, supporting the community’s access to essential services, and and creating safe community gathering spaces.
The Karen Community Association of Philadelphia was funded to support their community-led services for Karen and other Myanmar refugees. Funding will sustain weekly wraparound assistance, community interpretation, and monthly programming for elders and youth focused on access, connection, culture, and healing.
The Karen Community in Philadelphia (KCAP) received support for its work fostering cultural preservation, language retention, and community wellness among Karen refugee and immigrant families. Through youth mentorship, language education, accompaniment services, and intergenerational cultural programming, KCAP created spaces for healing, connection, and empowerment while helping families navigate the challenges of adapting to life in Philadelphia.
