The Camden Coalition, in partnership with the Psychedelic Mental Health Access Alliance and Cooper University Health Care, was funded to explore the development of a community-informed model for psilocybin-assisted therapy in the Camden region. Through listening sessions, focus groups, and workshops, the partners will engage residents, people with lived experience, care providers, and community leaders to help design a model that is culturally responsive, accessible to Medicaid beneficiaries and other underserved populations, and sustainable within public health systems. The project’s findings may also inform the implementation of equitable psychedelic-assisted therapy programs across New Jersey and beyond.
Camden Medical-Legal Partnership: Expansion to Maryville Addiction Treatment Center

The Camden Coalition, in partnership with Rutgers Law School, was funded to expand its medical-legal partnership, which integrates attorneys into healthcare settings to address legal barriers affecting health and wellbeing. Building on an initial partnership with a substance use disorder clinic in Camden, the project supported a pilot partnership with Maryville Addiction Treatment Center in Gloucester County. Through the partnership, attorneys provide legal advice and representation to help patients maintain access to treatment and address issues such as housing and employment that can contribute to poor health outcomes and justice-system involvement. The project also evaluates and shares findings to advance integrated legal services as a standard component of substance use disorder treatment.
Adapting and Scaling the Camden Coalition’s 7-Day Pledge to Individuals with Behavioral Health Needs

The Camden Coalition was funded to lead the 7-Day Pledge, a citywide initiative that helped patients connect with primary care within seven days of leaving the hospital. The initiative addressed barriers such as scheduling, transportation, and care coordination to improve patient outcomes and reduce hospital readmissions. Lessons from the program informed later efforts to strengthen care transitions, including behavioral healthcare, and advance person-centered, community-based models of care.
