The Coalition of African and Caribbean Communities’ (AFRICOM) mission is to advocate and organize to promote immigrant and refugee empowerment, a sense of belonging, and self-sufficiency. AFRICOM hosts a variety of programs that center on leadership, culture, education, and civic engagement.

AFRICOM received support for its Integrated Approaches to Improving Black Immigrants’ Access to Health Services program, a collaborative effort with Caribbean, Liberian, and Kenyan community organizations in Delaware County. The initiative strengthened community partners’ capacity to conduct participatory needs assessments and develop responsive strategies addressing health and wellness concerns. Funding also enhanced case management services and referral systems to better support immigrants experiencing the impacts of migration-related trauma.
