Think Bigger Do Good

The Think Bigger Do Good Policy Series is a collection of nonpartisan, solution-oriented papers focused on advancing behavioral health policy reform at the local, state, and federal levels. Since its launch in 2017, Think Bigger Do Good has brought together philanthropic partners to support practical policy ideas that improve mental health and substance use care.

Each paper is developed in collaboration with a consortium of strategic and tactical experts in behavioral health, policy, advocacy, and systems change. These advisors help identify timely policy issues, shape paper topics, and recommend authors with deep subject matter expertise. The result is a set of accessible, actionable resources that translate complex policy challenges into clear opportunities for reform.

The series is intended to support policymakers, advocates, funders, providers, and community leaders working to strengthen behavioral health systems and address outdated policies and financing structures. Whether used to inform legislative priorities, guide advocacy strategies, support coalition building, or educate stakeholders, the series offers practical ideas and evidence-informed approaches for creating more effective and equitable systems of care.

We invite you to explore, share, and use these papers to help advance stronger behavioral health policies and improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.
