Technical Assistance for Anti-Violence Community Expansion Grantees

Program Planning and Design

The RISE Partnership continues its work through a partnership with the City of Philadelphia to provide technical assistance to organizations that were recipients of anti-violence community expansion grants.

About

The RISE Partnership continues its work by providing capacity building support and technical assistance to organizations that were recipients of City of Philadelphia anti-violence Community Expansion Grants (CEG). Adapted from RISE Partnership’s implementation cohort model and values, the technical assistance is tailored to best fit the needs of the CEG cohort. Grantees participate in:

  • In-person coalition-building convenings focused on enhancing collective impact and fostering peer-to-peer learning and collaboration among organizations.
  • Professional development sessions focused on topics tailored to grantee needs, including program recruitment, data collection, and fundraising.
  • One-on-one consultation focused on grantee identified goals.

The goals of the technical assistance program are aligned with that of the RISE Partnership – to improve each participating organization’s internal capacity to deliver upon their mission; tell their story and communicate their impact; and to navigate challenges related to rapid growth, environmental changes, or shifts in strategic direction.  The cohort model also promotes shared learning and collaboration among organizations working to build safer communities to strengthen their collective impact.

Anti-Violence Community Partnership Grant Background

In 2021, The City of Philadelphia invested $13.5 million across 31 organizations who had a proven track record of reducing gun violence in their neighborhoods to help them expand and strengthen their efforts.  The Scattergood Foundation designed and implemented a year-long, cohort-based Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Initiative to support this program in partnership with the City, the fiscal payer, and the evaluation partners.  Technical assistance continued in the second year of the grant program with 39 organizations designed to build off the learnings from year one and to welcome additional community organizations.
