Our participatory funds alter traditional grantmaking by shifting power
to impacted communities to direct resources and make funding decisions.
We build public and private partnerships to administer grant dollars toward targeted programs.
We provide funds at below-market interest rates that can be particularly useful to start, grow, or sustain a program, or when results cannot be achieved with grant dollars alone.

Socks For the Streets (SFTS) meets the basic needs of individuals throughout the Philadelphia area facing homelessness and addiction.
Socks for the Streets is committed to warming the feet and hearts of those in need.
Socks For the Streets (SFTS) meets the basic needs of individuals throughout the Philadelphia area facing homelessness and addiction. By meeting basic human needs, Socks for the Streets builds trusting relationships and connects vulnerable communities with additional services to enhance wellbeing. SFTS was founded in 2019 by 10-year-old Declan Cassidy, who grew up watching his sister battle Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Declan watched the disease impact his own family, especially his mother, who did everything in her power to try and save her daughter’s life. Declan too wanted to help- and so SFTS was born. Declan’s family and friends worked together and volunteered their time to create a 501c(3) in order to better handle large size donations and expand their reach. Today, SFTS delivers a variety of programming, providing meals, services, and needed items to vulnerable community members of Kensington, including veterans, unhoused individuals, and those suffering from mental illness. Each month, SFTS reaches 500 individuals through street outreach, hands out 400 snack bags, 100 wound care bags, and 200 hygiene bags. SFTS provides clotes to 500+ individuals and hot meals for 225+ individuals. SFTS is an entirely volunteer run nonprofit organization, whose volunteers are passionate, dedicated, and live to serve the mission.
