To heal the psychological and emotional impact of homicides and reduce trauma-related reactive violence in the City of Chester, PA.
Chester Community Coalition’s Hospital-Linked Violence Intervention Program is providing services to victims of violent injury who enter Crozer-Chester Medical Center’s Emergency Department. A novel undertaking in the City of Chester, HVIPs elsewhere have been shown to reduce retaliation, recidivism, and reinjury. Chester Community Coalition hopes to decrease violence in the City of Chester by providing counseling, community- based violence interruption, and case management to gunshot wound victims, reduce retaliation and hospital readmission through coordinated efforts to address the wellness needs of the whole person.
