SFTS is an entirely volunteer-run nonprofit organization, whose volunteers are passionate, dedicated, and live to serve the mission. We meet those in need where they are.
Declan Cassidy, 16 years old, serves on the board as Founder. Declan puts together snack bags, fundraisers, community events and inspires others to donate their time as volunteers. Declan’s work has been recognized and commemorated through the Mayor’s Youth Hero Award, 4-H’s I Dare You Award, the Youth Congressional Recognition Award, and the Salute to Service Wish Rock Award.
Declan has also received The Citizens of the Year Award and 8th PDAC Award for Community Service and Academics.
Socks for the Streets was funded to provide meals, clothing, hygiene products, blankets, and consistent outreach to people experiencing hunger and homelessness in Kensington, while covering storage, transportation, insurance, and communication costs needed to sustain the work.
