SEAMAAC supports and serves immigrants and refugees and other politically, socially and economically marginalized communities as they seek to advance the condition of their lives in the United States.
SEAMAAC was funded to sustain its Immigrant Family Wellness Program, including multilingual staff who help immigrant and refugee families access public benefits, health and social services, employment and educational resources, trauma-informed emotional support, and culturally grounded group programming.
SEAMAAC received support for its broad range of programs supporting immigrant and marginalized communities, including civic engagement, education, wellness, legal aid, and community development. SEAMAAC mobilized specialized workgroups focused on deportation defense, strategic communication, and emergency response to hate crimes, while also hosting multilingual community safety events and expanding vital resources like translated “red cards” and free notarization services. They launched a video series, Stories of Strength, to highlight diverse immigrant experiences and foster community resilience.
SEAMAACʼs Immigrant Family Wellness program received support for programming that centered around community connections, resiliency, and empowerment within immigrant/refugee families. The program provided linguistically and culturally appropriate case management, community education, assessments, and support groups focused on both arts-based therapeutic methods and elders groups.
SEAMAAC was awarded a grant to support their Immigrant Family Wellness program serving Southeast Asian immigrant and refugee communities in Philadelphia. The program included connections to basic needs, navigation of health services, adult education and digital access support. Additionally, SEAMAAC developed Wellness Workshops and hosted 10 educational sessions on topics related to mental health and wellbeing.
The Safe Families Collaborative, a partnership between SEAMAAC, the African Family Health Organization (AFAHO), and Nationalities Service Center (NSC) was awarded a grant to strengthen culturally responsive intimate partner violence (IPV) services for immigrant and refugee communities across the region. Building on longstanding partnerships and shared organizational values, the collaborative integrated each organization’s existing IPV programming to expand safety planning, survivor support, and access to critical resources for immigrant and refugee families. Funding also strengthened the long-term capacity of culturally specific organizations in Pennsylvania to deliver sustainable, community-centered IPV programming.
