New Kensington Community Development Corporation and Impact Services were funded to expand trauma-informed practices throughout Kensington as part of a broader plan to create corridors of health, wellness, and healing. In partnership with Impact Services Corporation, NKCDC was funded to recruit and train Kensington residents as Trauma-Informed Community Connectors. These resident leaders will organize blocks, build trust and social cohesion, help neighbors pursue community goals, and connect families with behavioral health services and other supports. The organizations will also strengthen their internal capacity through staff training, policies, and practices that embed trauma-informed principles throughout their community work.
