New Sanctuary Movement of Philadelphia builds community across faith, ethnicity, and class in our work to end injustices against immigrants regardless of immigration status, express radical welcome for all, and ensure that values of dignity, justice, and hospitality are lived out in practice and upheld in policy.
New Sanctuary Movement of Philadelphia was funded to provide immigrants with court and ICE accompaniment, case management, emotional support, bond and legal assistance, interpretation, and Know Your Rights resources while developing immigrant leaders and organizing communities to advance protective policies.
New Sanctuary Movement (NSM) received support for its work providing accompaniment, political education, and grassroots organizing for immigrant communities across Philadelphia. Through its programming, NSM helped immigrant families navigate the immigration system, access legal and wellness resources, and remain united through Pennsylvania’s only immigrant-run bond fund. Funding also strengthened leadership development and community organizing efforts that empowered immigrants of color to advocate for systemic change and transform experiences of injustice into collective action for liberation and policy reform.

New Sanctuary Movement’s Accompaniment Program fostered long-term relationships between immigrant families and allied congregations to build community, strengthen faith-based solidarity, and provide holistic support during immigration proceedings. Through court accompaniment, detention visitation, legal referrals, and emotional and spiritual support, the program helped immigrant families navigate complex systems while creating accountability and connection through collective public witness. Funding also supported monthly Convivios gatherings, where immigrant community members built relationships, participated in healing-centered workshops, and accessed educational and wellness programming shaped by their own interests and experiences.
