Targeted Street Outreach

REACH PA

Men of the Community will distribute harm reduction materials through door-to-door canvassing efforts in Erie, PA.

About

The objective of Men of the Community (MOC) Targeted Street Outreach is to decrease the number of fatal overdoses in neighborhoods with the highest rate of overdoses in Erie, PA. These neighborhoods are disproportionately made up of BIPOC families. MOC Targeted Street Outreach will distribute Narcan, Fentanyl Testing Strips, and Xylazine Testing Strips door-to-door in these neighborhoods. During the door-to-door visits, in addition to providing the harm reduction tools, MOC will provide education about using the products and information about where to seek help if a person is struggling with a substance use disorder.

MOC has been approved to be a Pennsylvania Overdose Prevention Program (POPP) and, as part of this project, will also distribute Narcan, Fentanyl Testing Strips, and Xylazine Testing Strips to businesses, churches, community centers and other entities that are in the neighborhoods with highest rates of overdose.
