We fund organizations and projects which disrupt our current behavioral health space and create impact at the individual, organizational, and societal levels.
Our participatory funds alter traditional grantmaking by shifting power
to impacted communities to direct resources and make funding decisions.
We build public and private partnerships to administer grant dollars toward targeted programs.
We provide funds at below-market interest rates that can be particularly useful to start, grow, or sustain a program, or when results cannot be achieved with grant dollars alone.

Centro Nueva Creación is a community-based organization with the mission to promote resilience in young people through educational enrichment and engagement with the arts and Latino cultures. We offer a variety of programs for young people in the North Philadelphia neighborhood of Fairhill – one of the city’s most poverty-stricken and marginalized communities. Our organization was founded in response to local concerns about the effect that the local environment was having upon children and we nurture a legacy of responsiveness to local needs. Our leadership and staff are not outsiders in Fairhill, but come from and live in the community. We provide the children of Fairhill with opportunities they would otherwise not receive and help them succeed both in and out of school.
With a grant from the KCR Fund, we propose to fund a separate Executive Director position for our organization. As in many small organizations, our Executive Director wears many hats and also performs the duties of a Program Director. We have noticed, however, that this has come at the expense of our management and long-term planning. To become more viable and better serve our community we must build these capacities. Funding a separate Executive Director position would allow us to better pursue things like strategic planning or the development of new partnerships, which will ultimately benefit those we serve through richer, more sustainable programming.
