Drawing on a variety of mental health and wellness disciplines, Savage Sisters offers holistic behavioral health resources to Recovery Home residents.
Savage Sisters Recovery, Inc is a grassroots non-profit dedicated to attacking addiction ferociously with radical love through connection. Their mission is to serve those who are living with or are affected by substance use disorder and homelessness. They serve individuals in early recovery via dynamic, structured, and trauma-informed transitional homes.
Savage Sisters was founded by someone in recovery, with lived experience in recovery homes. Her experiences in early recovery exposed her to the reality that there was a lack of decent or ethical women’s recovery homes. Whilst in early recovery, she utilized a plethora of mental health resources to maintain her recovery, and address her traumas. Believing her peers would benefit from similar resources, she fought to open the first Savage Sisters Recovery Home.
Today, Savage Sisters operates 6 recovery homes, each of which offers a plethora of resources designed to deal with the root of their residents’ addictions, which is trauma. The organization’s growth has been an organic response to issues they recognized as negatively impacting their community. They realized we needed to help those not only in early recovery, but in active use. They accomplish this through weekly street-based outreach efforts, and serve the public as a whole through educational sessions providing the knowledge needed to reverse an overdose, as well as info on harm reduction, and substance use disorder prevention, intervention, and treatment.
