Ted Corbin Speaks to NPR's Weekend Edition About Helping Victims of Urban Violence

This past Sunday, Dr. Ted Corbin spoke with Rachel Martin, host of NPR's Weekend Edition, about hospital-focused efforts to help victims of urban violence.  Dr. Corbin spoke about how individuals in his field of Emergency Medicine can sieze on what he refers to as the "golden moment," when a victim of violent injury comes to the Emergency Room and is ready to make a change in his/her life, to help prevent retaliation and re-injury.  He also spoke of the need to deconstruct some of the biases that the public has about victims of urban violence and move towards a better understanding of how chronic adversity and stress increase the likelihood of becoming a victim of interpersonal violence.
