This report summarizes the past year of the Building Evaluation Capacity Initiative (formerly known as the Building Agency Capacity for Program Evaluation Initiative). With funding from the Thomas B. Scattergood Foundation, since 2011 the Initiative has provided a two-year program of training and consultation in program evaluation to Greater Philadelphia Area organizations focused on promoting behavioral health. Beginning in fall 2015, The Barra Foundation and The Philadelphia Foundation will join the Thomas B. Scattergood Foundation to support this Initiative, thus expanding the programs and organizations eligible to participate from those focused on behavioral health to those focused on arts and culture, education, health and wellness, or human services. This expansion also increases the number of new organizations that will begin the program each year, from 5 or 6 to 11. As a result of this expansion, the Building Evaluation Capacity Initiative will have worked with 33 organizations in Greater Philadelphia.
This past year, the initiative also fully implemented the Philadelphia Program Evaluation Learning Collaborative to ensure that organizations that have completed the program receive ongoing consultation and support to sustain gains made. The Collaborative was launched the previous year by offering phone and email consultation to graduating organizations. This past year those activities were supplemented with monthly webinars and group consultation, opportunities for resource exchange through an online repository of materials, and a half-day conference that featured group consultation to Collaborative members.
